In the basement of my mom's office, there was an old dryer outlet. But the wire gauge was too small. So today, me and my dad removed the plug, the fuse/switch box and two cables. It was : panel > blue cable > junction box > orange cable > fuse/switch > white cable > dryer plug. We left the blue cable and the junction box. We put marrettes on the three wires in the junction box. (So that there is no short circuit if someone turns on the breaker) That way, the next owners of the house cannot plug a dryer into this unsafe outlet. The basement is too dirty for clean clothes anyway.
