I wonder if they are still useful now that the water in bathrooms is no longer grounded. The supply lines are made of PEX and the drains of ABS. This means that, if you were touching the live wire and water at the same time, the outlet would not trip because the water is not connected to the ground (and not completing the circuit). Oh wait, now that I think about it, some electricity can flow through the water in the PEX pipe. But is that enough to trip a GFCI outlet ?
