I believe in neither. It seems to me like it's not going to be BANG you're born and BANG you're dead. I'd rather go with something more gradual. No beginnings, no ends. Just constant change and movement. Whatever makes us perceive must be there before we're "born" and after we "die". Aside, I believe memory is just part of the body and adds depth to the other senses. It develops, changes and rots. No such thing as starting and ending.
