Today, we shocked our well and plumbing with chlorine. It is recommended to be done once a year. The main thing is bypassing our water treatment (filters, softener and UV lamp), adding chlorine to the well and letting it sit in the plumbing for a few hours. That involved a lot of messing around with our valves. We added chlorine in the well, made it reach every tap and let it sit for some time. Then, we turned our treatment system back on and flushed the residual of chlorine (after removing the bulk of the chlorine in the well by letting it flow outside)
